FAA Flight Path Changes Could Impact Us

I’m admittedly late to the game in getting up to speed on this issue.

The FAA is implementing new flight paths in order to improve airline efficiency. The new flight paths mean that traffic to Centennial airport may soon change, possibly shifting over a different area of the south metro. Many south metro cities are opposing this, including Littleton, Centennial, Cherry Hills and Greenwood Village – this also seems to affect south Denver and Englewood.

I’m not sure how the map in the Denver Post will impact us here in the Happy Canyon area. It looks like the flight paths that we are currently exposed to may move to the west and south of us, but as the article stated, the maps may change. With prevailing winds out of the west, this could mean more jet noise (think about how loud the highway gets when the winds shift and blow from the east).

Regardless, this is certainly something to stay informed on and there is series of workshops commencing April 29 – May 16th.

—–May 2nd 2019 meeting is at the Aurora Municipal Center – 15151 E.. Alameda Parkway.

—A draft environmental assessment was supposedly released on April 22 – I have not found it yet….
